Front of Store

In 1974, an ex-Army officer in Fayetteville realized he couldn’t afford to establish a library, so he did the second-best thing. From modest beginnings that included Canada Dry Ginger Ale crates, buildings originally designed to function as chicken coops, and a store that the founder built himself, Edward McKay Used Books & More has grown to four stores across North Carolina…

… and the newest one is here in Winston-Salem. But “new” doesn’t mean “unestablished.” Our store’s been here for several years. We might be a little hard to notice because we’re just off a main road. We’re across from the Thruway Center, on Oakwood Drive, basically behind the Kangaroo Gas Station.

Once you find us, though, you won’t forget us; we have over 10,000 square feet of used books, textbooks, audiobooks, music CDs, vinyl records, DVDs (and Blu-Ray), VHS (yes! still!), video games, iPods and other electronics, eReaders, and much, much more. Most of our merchandise comes from you, the public, so our stock changes every day.

We’re open seven days a week to buy, sell, and trade. Drop by or give us a call; we’re ready to feed your head!
